Conrad Veidt was an actor of the silent film era. Here he is portraying the character Gwynplaine in the movie The Man Who Laughs 1928. This character has many links to several different horror based movies although this movies is not a horror movie itself. Many believe that this character is the inspiration for all the incarnations of The Joker.
